Originally from Burlington, Iowa, Jeff attended Iowa State University where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1990. He began working at Roseland Architects in Ames as an intern architect that same year. Following the traditional internship and subsequent licensure he assumed the role of project architect with the firm in 1995. In early 2001 a professional corporation was formed with Jeff as one of three principals in the new firm.
Daily work includes oversight of business related needs of the firm and project related responsibilities. Jeff is involved with every phase of project development from initial programming and site selection to construction administration and project close-out. The firm is structured in a manner that allows daily interaction and involvement in all activities related to a project.
Jeff has served on the Nevada Community School District Facilities Task Force, and for seven years on the Nevada Planning and Zoning Commission with three years as Chairman.

A southeast Iowa native, Garrett began his journey with our team as an intern in the spring of 2020 while studying at Iowa State University. Following his graduation in 2023, he transitioned into a full-time role and has since become a licensed architect in the state of Iowa. Garrett plays a vital role in the continued success of RMH, contributing to all phases of design and project development. His involvement spans a diverse range of project types and disciplines, allowing him to broaden his expertise while delivering thoughtful, high-quality solutions.

Shelly works with our clients to select interior finishes for their projects, including mainly flooring, wallcoverings, wood, countertop and cabinet materials. She also specifies furnishings and assembles furniture proposal requests to assist our clients in receiving competitive bids. A great deal of Shelly’s time is also spent working with the architects and our clients on space planning and construction documents. She uses her many years of experience at RMH Architects to work with repeat clients to ensure successful future projects based on work done in the past.

A central Iowa native, Cole first joined our team as a student intern in the winter of 2023 while pursuing his degree at Drury University. Cole joined our team full-time in the spring of 2025 following previous intern experience the past two years. Aspiring to become a licensed architect, Cole is dedicatedly working toward completing his AXP hours and gaining knowledge daily as an integral member of the RMH team while working on a variety of projects.

A Minnesota native, Kathryn brings a thoughtful, collaborative, and detail-oriented approach to every project she supports. Her work spans design development, documentation, and project coordination across a variety of building types, with a particular strength in renovation and remodeling projects. Her ability to understand spatial relationships, workflow needs, and functional adjacencies contributes to well-organized and highly effective design solutions.
She actively assists with construction documents, consultant coordination, and project implementation, supporting multiple teams simultaneously and helping deliver projects on schedule and within budget. Kathryn is also pursuing architectural licensure, expanding her technical knowledge through hands-on involvement in diverse project types. Her dedication, curiosity, and growing expertise allow her to anticipate client needs and contribute meaningfully to project success.

Kim is a student architectural intern at RMH Architects, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture degree at Iowa State University. Originally from Chatfield, Minnesota, Kim plans to remain in Ames following graduation to continue growing professionally within the architectural field. Driven by a passion for hands on learning, Kim is eager to gain experience in all aspects of the profession while working toward architectural licensure and gaining AXP hours. She is excited to contribute to the Ames community and expand her knowledge alongside the talented team at RMH Architects.
